so looks like I have got some news for y'all today. I got six week shaft. Never thought it would happen to me. oh by the way... a six week shaft is when you get transferred out of an area while being there for only one transfer (six weeks). So yeah, it was a shock to Elder Humpherys and I. We believed he would be leaving the area and it was the other way around. Man... I sure do hate packing. So we got the calls last night. I will be going senior companion... I don't know who i will be with or what area I will be serving in.
I am excited for this opportunity to go and serve another area. However I feel like i was just getting started here. I have seen such a huge change in the area while I have been here. Member support has gone up immensly as well as the amount of investigators we have. This past week we knocked so many doors! we taught a total of 44 lessons. It was so much work. We kept working hard looking for the blessing of finding the elect of god. I feel like we found many who are ready to hear the message and they will be followed up with this week.
So, for the spiritual experience this week. We have been looking for the "Elect" and so before we did some tracting on wednesday we prayed for the lord to help us open our mouths and speak with everyone. That we may find his elect. As we were tracting we were leaving an area when a woman and her children were arriving. She was an english speaker so we let her walk past. About six steps later it hit me I was to speak with her. I turned around and chased her down to offer a "Truth Restored" business card. From this I immedietly began teaching her about eternal families.
As the conversation progressed she invited us in to chat with her. We accepted. (Luckily, I always carry my spanish and English materials for these kind of situations.) As we were inside one of the first things she asks is where our church is located. She then expressed how she has been searching for a church to congregate and worship with. We began to teach a first lesson (The Restoration) and as we did so the spirit was so strong! she asked us why we believe in the church and both Elder Humpherys and I were able to bear our testimonies of when we recieved our spiritual witness that the church is true.
We left with a return appointment for the next day. (English Elders) They returned to teach and see this "Golden" investigator we had found. Two days later she accepted a baptismal date for the 1st of August. I know she was prepared to recieve the gospel and I am so grateful for the spiritual prompting I recieved to open my mouth and speak with everyone. I know we didnt find a spanish "Elect" that day but I know we did our part in gods plan that day. We found the Elect in a different language. maybe next time we pray we will specify spanish speaking. haha.
Ok, so I cant really think of to much else to say. I must apologize for the fact that i said last week that i would be sending the SD card. unfortunately We got really busy and i sorta... put it off untill this week. hope y'all aren't to mad. haha. It also has videos on it that Francys can put up on the blog. (unless specified otherwise as directed in the letter to her.)
I want to congratulate Kelby Wright, Jon Warburton, Daniel Brockbank, Erick Gardner, and John Osborn for there call to serve in the Lords Army! I know you will all be wonderful servants of the lord. I would advise you to begin studying Preach My Gospel as diligently as you can. This will prepare you for your mission and will put you ahead of the game while in the mtc.
Not to sure what else to say. I have some extra time today... Hmmm. can i make a special request? I would like to get some pictures from my family! haha. And what is going on with Bianca? I havent heard from her and Ryan in FOREVER! Thank you Franny for the email you sent recently. I hope everyone back home is doing well and reading their scriptures daily. I love the scriptures! I learn something new from them everyday!
oh yeah... haha. can anyone send me a jesus the christ? i kinda need one. While on my mission i have been able to read all of Doctrine and Covenants once and the Book of Mormon Twice. for next transfer I plan on reading the Book of Mormon again. I plan on having it read seven times by the end of my mission. I also will be working on the New Testament. These Southerners sure are big on there bible. haha. It is a good thing I have most of the references for the most important scriptures memorized.
Oh, I want to give a shout out to the little ones! they are getting so big! thank you francys for the pictures! i love getting them. Give them a big hug and kiss from Uncle Erick! Bianca this goes for Dagny as well! I want to see how much she has grown if you can send me a pic.
I know this is a long long Email and I just keep blabbing but I feel like using all the time today. I want to give a shout out to the mountain view 10th ward and give them thanks for the love and support which they give me as a missionary. I am so very grateful for the leadership which i have had. Please give a very special thanks to Roger Walker, Steve Ashby, Lance Ashby, Court Jones, Jason Demke, Zach (baldy!) and to all the many other many wonderful families and leaders in the ward.
The Armbrusters will deserve Extra special recognition. They have been such a blessing while on the mission. Thank you for the recent package I was able to see. I loved hearing about all the wonderful experiences my dear friends are having as well. I love you all so very much.
Well i think i have gone on for long enough. Pray that I will be able to do well in my next area. I guess i accomplished what the lord intended me to do here. I hope to here from y'all soon. I love you to death. Hope I didnt take to much of your day by writing so much! haha.
Elder Erick Delgado
