How is everyone doing? I pray all is well back home, yes... I know its hard to go on without me but i think you will all be ok. haha. Good news!We had a baptism this past saturday! 18th of April in the year of our lord 2009! haha. it was an awesome service! His name is Jose Antonio Magellon, the one i told you about last week. I had the honor of baptizing him and i promise to send some more pictures next week. i accidently forgot my camera today and i had some awesome shots i wanted you all to see but oh well. So the baptism was wonderful, At first Elder McDonald and I were really worried because he didnt show up and he wasn't picking up our phone calls. Ended up he was waiting on his wife and he eventually showed up.... 20 minutes later. Funny thing... when i was going to go baptize him a little girl comes up to me and says you have a catepillar on your pants... sure enough i look down and the little guy is there just crawling up my leg. I handed him off to someone else and then we did the ordinance of baptism! It was a wonderful Spirit and experience.
Four of our investigators came and they all loved it! The ward was so friendly and they all connected so well. It was especially great for liliana because she felt so happy there. you could just see it in her. We have been praying and hoping she will have a change of heart and start listening to us again now that Antonio is a member.
After the baptism we all got together at a park near by to play some soccer! It was alot of fun and definately relaxing as a missionary to go play sports with the ward and some investigators. It was just such a wonderful activity that the next day (Sunday) we had all the investigators who came to the baptism come to church except liliana but that is ok. She will come with time. We have also been working with a wonderful family of 3. The mother and father have accepted to become baptized when they come to find that these things are true. We believe they will be prepared by the end of may and will hopefully be setting a date for them soon. Their son is great he hasn't sat in as much with us but i think he likes us cause he always says hi even when we see him in the street. He is a cool kid and i think with time will also be baptized. He is 15.
ok, what else has been going on... wow i dont know, i still have about ten minutes and i cant think of anything to write. oh i guess i haven't told you about the Lakip family have I?
ok, i am going to explain this as best i can with the time i have. So when i was in the MTC i met another Elder his name is Romy Lakip, He is awesome and we really got along. He just so happened to be in my district and his room was just down the hall. we hung out alot and worked out together. haha. He plays soccer for BYU and helped me stay in shape for a bit. anways.... point of this story is that he is from Alpharetta Georgia which just so happens to be in my area. haha. yeah i know that is way crazy! It happened though.
So i have met his family and they are absolutely wonderful! his mom is from colombia and is such a sweetheart! she has extended so much love to elder McDonald and I. They had us over for easter and we got to spend some time with everyone, including extended family. This was great seeing as how no one else but the Lakip's are members of the church. We had the oppurtunity to share a message and testify of the saviour.
His dad is a crack up, serious at times but likes to mess around. He is a great man. His brother Ammon is way cool he is seventeen i think... come to think of it i never asked. anyways.... he reminds me of romy alot and plays soccer too. His Sister Arial is cool as well, she was visiting from BYU hawaii and was here for easter. Then there is Nicole, She is on a mission and comes home in july. Maybe i will get to meet here before i get transferred but i feel like i might be somewhere else by that time. she is in new york spanish.
ok, time to wrap it up... the best part about all of this is that we had the oppurtunity to go and teach a lesson to Elder Lakip's aunt and family. They are wonderfull people with firm beliefs in christ. They are baptist and believe in the bible. We are praying we will be able to get in with them little by little and maybe help them understand what makes our religion so different then others. We have left them with a book of mormon but last time i checked they have not read any. we hope to get in there this week and maybe help them out with that or teach them something concerning eternal families because they are big on that.
Anyways... i appreciate all the love and support all of you have given me. i am sorry i am terrible at writing back some weeks but i will do better. I love you all. Keep praying that the lord will help us find success especially with Elder lakips family if you could.
Much Love
Elder Erick Delgado!
